Volunteer to serve during 1 service every 4 weeks in a class (6 months - 5th grade). You can also serve by assisting room leaders in preparing lessons and getting the kids' room ready for the weekend. Fill out our Waumba Land application here.
We have monthly gatherings for Middle school students, high school students, and parents. These usually include a time of worship, ministry, teaching, and discussion. Our goal is to meet with God to be challenged, encouraged, and equipped. Contact Jason Van Hove if you'd like to serve in this area.
If you'd like to be on the team that prays for people up front on the weekend, the 1st step is to attend our Prayer Training workshop that is offered quarterly. After that, we will pair you up with a current prayer team member on a weekend to pray for others and receive feedback/coaching. Contact Liam for more info.
Second Sunday of each month
Help us bless others by serving a free community meal at First Christian Church in Ames. There are two shifts: Set up and cooking from 3:30-5:30pm and serving and clean up from 5:15-7:15pm. Feel free to show up for one or both! Email Phil Penner with questions or if you would like to serve.
We provide free childcare at many of our regularly scheduled and special events, enabling significantly more families to attend. If you would like to know more or be contacted as a paid childcare worker when these opportunities arise, please contact Mallory Richardson.
Various Sunday events or weekly meetings require large meal prep from volunteers. All expenses are reimbursed by the church. If you would like to be added to the list of people who are given the opportunity to cook for HVC, please email Katie Enfield.
One of the biggest ways to impact and care for someone when they are going through a transition or crisis is by simply "being" with them. We love to spend time with new moms, people recovering in the hospital, and those grieving. Contact Josh if you have a heart for this area.
Everything we do as a church is made possible by the generous gifts made by the people in our church. God has a lot for us when we worship him with every area of our lives. Some are called by God to give generously. If this is a calling in your life and you'd like to hear more about the financial life of our church, contact Josh Miller.
